Mixed berry fruit salad with fresh apples and garnished with sweet basil leaves.
It has been quite some time since I submitted a new recipe and for that I must apologise. You see right now I am currently working on a number of projects, all related to my brand and something which I hope my readers will appreciate in due time.
I won’t give a long rant about how difficult it is to balance the bloggersphere with one’s personal life. I think it goes with saying that being a food blogger entails a great amount of time, effort and passion in order to be a roaring success.
Anyway, I wanted to share this very berry salad with you as this one is relatively easy to put together and not to mention inexpensive to prepare. I literally purchased a box of mixed berries for £2 and added a few slices of pink lady apples with sweet basil leaves to add a savoury touch.
This is a very simple almost lazy fruit salad albeit healthy, so do not assume that any recipe that takes less than 10 minutes to prepare is of low quality and defiant in nutrients . I try to offer a range of recipes from complex – for the advance foodies to easy – for the novice/busy individuals.
This berry salad will give you an adequate amount of sweetness to your diet (I hate that word) without causing any instant crash and burn sensation. That is because fruit contains fructose which is a natural occurring sugar. In other words, no artificial sweetener was added, only fresh raw ingredients.
You can swap the sweet basil for mint leaves if you wish. I felt that the sweet basil really heightened the flavour but you may disagree. If you’re looking for a salad that will satisfy your sweet craving without feeling guilty then this one is for you.
Serve it in a salad bowl or even add the berries to a mason jar to eat on the go!
- A box of mixed berries (approx 500g)
- 2-3 pink lady apples, cored and sliced
- a handful of sweet basil leaves
- Arrange the mixed berries in a salad bowl along with the apple slices.
- Garnish with the sweet basil leaves.
- Serve accordingly.
