½ cup hemp shells (118g) aka hemp hearts 4 cups water (945ml) 1½ tablespoon cacao powder (7.5g) 3 tablespoon maple syrup (60g) 1 teaspoon vanilla (4g) ¼ teaspoon nutmeg (0.5g) Optional ad in 1 tablespoon peanut butter powder (16g)
Add the water, hemp shells (hearts), cacao powder, maple syrup, nutmeg, vanilla and peanut butter powder to a high speed blender.
Blitz until the milk is smooth and creamy (you can strain the milk in a cheese cloth or nut bag but I don't).
Store the milk in mason jar or jug in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
I highly recommend using a high powered blender i.e Blendtec or Vitamix.
You will need hulled/seeds or hemp which is known as "hemp hearts" to make this milk.
For an an intense chocolate flovour use 2 tablepoons of cacao powder instead.
If you choose not to strain the milk it is normal for segments to settle at the bottom.
If stored in a container/jar, shake before using the milk.
The hemp milk should keep for up to 5 days.
This milk is also suitable for home freezing.
For a creamier, more concentrated chocolate milk, use more hemp and less water.
