Are you a vegan or lead a dairy free lifestyle and miss the taste of chocolate mousse?
Well look no further and try this vegan style mousse. This recipe is incredibly simple, containing only 6 ingredients, yes that's right, a whooping SIX! is all you need to achieve this wonderful result.
I remember when I first toyed with the idea of making chocolate mousse with avocados being the star of the show.
It was an epic fail because like most vegan/dairy free recipe there's plenty of trial and error to be had.
After several attempts and pestering the heck out of my family I was finally able to nail it.
It felt like someone had just given me the winning lottery ticket, at the time which is how I felt the day I mastered my Key Lime Pudding recipe.
Now I'm ready to showcase this vegan mousse - it's so velvety smooth just like this Avocado Chocolate Crumble especially when paired with some freshly ripe avocados. Trust me it works!
You more than welcome to switch things up by using Date Paste instead of using a liquid sweetener.
The avocados are like the vegan replacement for eggs, acting like an emulsifier, holding the entire structure together along with being a boost of healthy fats.
Ingredients you will need
- Avocados: Make sure you are using avocados that are more on the soft side and definitely not firm/over ripe.
- Cacao: Use "raw cacao" this is the unadulterated vegan version of cocoa powder.
- Sweetener: Use whatever sweetener you like agave, coconut nectar, maple etc...
- Vegan chocolate: This is optional but recommended for a silky smooth chocolate mousse
- Nut butter: Healthy fat that helps to mask the avocado taste.
- Almond Milk: This is my favourite neutral tasting milk, you can use another if you wish!
