Tired of drinking plain old water? Then why not try some fruit infused water, that's right! Learn how to make some fruit flavoured water using fresh orange and rosemary.
Drinking water is something that leaves the nation divided, you have people who embrace the idea and consume large volumes of water.
On the other hand, you have people who absolutely detest drinking water and would rather drink soda or something that is flavoursome.
I've met my fair share of "water detesters" as I like to call them and always challenge myself by convincing them to atleast try adding some fruit, herbs and vegetable to their drinking water.
Today I'm going to show you how to make drinking water more exciting, less boring and most importantly with flavour, granted this won't be for everyone but if I can get atleast one person on board then I have succeeded.
The importance of drinking water
I'm sure as a child your parents encouraged you to eat your 5 a day and drink water.
Also, as you got older and were accountable for your own health, the doctor would also advise the exact same thing.
Well there is a good reason as to why it is crucial to drink water on a daily basis. While I won't go into GREAT detail I will say this...
The majority of our body is made up of water, yes it's true! You may have heard this before and thought, blah, blah and rolled your eyes but it's the truth.
- Our saliva is made up of water, which aids the digestion process, we need it to help breakdown food to prevent us from choking and helps to develop our tastebuds (keeps our tongue moist) and neutralises acids.
- Regulates our body temperature via sweating and perspiration.
- Assists with delivering oxygen to various parts of the body.
- The kidneys and bladder use water to get flush out the bodies waste i.e urine.
- Water is a major component for most of our body parts.
- Water helps to increase your mebolism by making you feel fuller for longer thus being perfect for aiding weightloss.
- Aids in cell reproduction and re-growth
- Acts as a shock absorber for the spinal cord and the brain
- Lubricates joints (Source)
As you can see from the above list that it is incredibly important to drink enough water throughout the day, while you can get some water consuption via a beverage nothing beats drinking water in its neat form.
Reasons to make orange infused water
Orange and rosemary is the perfect pair (anti inflammatory, anti bacterial, immune boosting, aids digestion, regulates blood pressure) you get that natural citrus, fruity taste from the orange and that deep herbaceous note from the rosemary.
This duo is particularly refreshing and really shines during the summertime. You can drink this alone, with the family (suitable for ALL ages) or even serve to guests while you are hosting a dinner party.
It's also a guilt free drink, you can consume as much (don't go overboard please) as you like without worrying about excess sugar or unwanted calories.
For those of you who are looking for that perfect summerbody drink, drink up because this orange rosemary infused water is a must try.
You can make this infused water using either a jug/pitcher or use individual glasses. It's best to allow the water to steep for up 12 hours/overnight, if possible or atleast several hours to get the most optimal taste.
The steps
- Add the sliced orange along with the sprigs of rosemary to a jug/pitcher.
- Pour the water into the pitcher and leave to steep in a refrigerator for atleast several hours or overnight, for best results.
- Serve with in glasses or a mason jar (feel free to add additional slices of orange and rosemary sprigs to your individual glasses).
Notes and tips
- For best results, use fresh rosemary and the actual orange fruit (fresh although frozen slices work too).
- You can leave the rosemary and orange water steep for up to 3 days, after that period you will need to discard the fruit/herb and drink the water within 5 days.
- Keep the fruit infused water refrigerated at all times.
- The amount of rosemary and orange slices that you use can subjective, you can follow my lead or add more for a more cencentrated taste.
- If you are making a single glass of fruit water then use a straw to sip to separate the fruit/herb from the water.
- Double, triple or quadruple if required.

I tried making the Orange Rosemary Infused Water from your recipe, and it was absolutely refreshing and delightful! The combination of tangy oranges and aromatic rosemary created a unique and invigorating flavor. Not only did it quench my thirst, but it also provided a subtle hint of herbaceousness that elevated the overall taste.
