A delicious vegan friendly smoothie made from frozen apples, banana, leafy green spinach, sea moss gel, plant based milk, ginger with a hint of cinnamon and nutmeg.

    2 glasses of green smoothie

Here is another smoothie recipe which includes sea moss gel. This one is another favourite of mine and the perfect way to fuel your body which nutritional goodness.

Smoothies are so versatile, quick and can be equally as tasty depending on the ingredients being used.

Today I am going to share with you a way that you can sneak some spinach into your diet without even trying too hard.

Sometimes I'm just not in the mood for steaming vegetables so why not serve them up in a smoothie instead? It's just as quick and effective.

Apples in a smoothie are highly underrated, aside from an Apple Pie Smoothie they seem to be a fruit that is overlooked in favour of bananas.

I'm going to prove to you that apples do have a place in the world of green smoothies.

Should you peel the skin off an apple?

It seems that the nation are divided on this question, some are peelers, while others prefer to keep the skin intact.

The skin of an apple contains a good amount of fibre and antioxidants so it is advisable to leave the skin in place when eating an apple.

Of course this does depend on how the apples are grown (organic or otherwise) and in the case of black spots or holes, it is always best to scrape off the bad parts or remove the peel accordingly.

Ultimately, it's down to your personal preference, if you don't like waste and want to reap the full health benefits of an apple then keep the peel on.

If you really don't care for the peel nor are you too overly concerned about losing out on a few additional health benefits then remove the peel before using your apple(s).

    The steps

    steps 1-2 making the smoothie
    • Add all of the ingredients to a high speed blender.
    • Blitz into a smooth consistency.
    • Serve accordingly.

    Notes and tips

    • You don't have to use Almond Milk, other plant based milk such as Cashew Milk or oat works just fine.
    • For best results in terms of texture, use a frozen apple and banana.
    • This isn't a high calorific smoothie, if you want additional calories feel free to add some nuts, seeds or oats.
    • Feel free to use another leafy vegetable like kale, if you don't have spinach.
