There some particular superfoods that are causing a buzz with its variants and that’s all things coconut – coconut oil, milk, sugar, cream, butter, flour and then we have the water. Keep in mind that the aforementioned has been utilised in the Caribbean for decades, for us it’s second nature. A fresh juicy mango mixed with coconut water is probably the best drink ever. I know coconut water has an acquired taste but keep in mind I used to hate the taste as a child. Meanwhile my mom and grandmother would drink the water straight from a young coconut. I grew to love coconut water as I got older, I mean we were always surrounding by it.
This beverage isn’t my usual smoothie, it’s just a three ingredient drink – no plant based milk is included. All you need is a humongous ripe mango, fresh coconut water and a thumb sized piece of ginger. All of these ingredients are highly nutritious, packed with fibre to aid digestion (reduce acid reflux) and low in fat.
Yes, that’s right ladies, it’s FAT FREE – just imagine sipping on this drink in the middle of Tahiti, sun kissed with your bikini on without having to worry about gaining an extra few pounds or fellas fancy drinking this after some hardcore strength training at the gym. As coconut water contains essential minerals which are lost during a strenuous workout, the five essential electrocytes are replenished (magnesium, phosphorous, potassium, and sodium).
Even athletes are beginning to endorse coconut water as it has the ability to prevent cramps – a common affliction in the world of sports and fitness. I like to drink coconut water more during the summer because of how hydrating it is and also as a post workout beverage mixed with my protein powder.
This anti inflammatory trio beverage has the ability to stabilise high blood pressure and ease inflammation in the joints.
